Pedro is a Lab/Spaniel mix, he weighs 60 pounds and is 3 years old. Pedro was a chained dog who received little human interaction prior to being found running loose. He was found by some young children who witnessed him being attacked by other dogs.

Pedro came into our rescue skinny with cuts, scrapes, and bruises all over his body.  He was starved as much for attention as he was for food.  He craved human interaction and love.  He also tested heartworm positive, yet another hurdle for him to have to clear in his young life. He is currently being treated.

He needs to respect his owner because despite his impressive appearance he is really a scared baby at heart and needs to feel safe. Once that is established he is absolutely wonderful.

He is great on a leash around all dogs (gender and whether or not they are leashed make no difference), he plays well with smaller dogs and females (although he can be rough, but Jack Russells and pits make great playmates), he doesn't bother small dogs who don't want to play, and has made no effort to grab or in any way harass the old cat at the kennel who completely ignores dogs unless they step on her.

Pedro has learned to wait (sit patiently) for meals, treats, and for a prong collar to be put over his head for walks. He also likes to play fetch and tug of war with humans and loves the safety of his crate.
